Guelph real estate- Riverside Park
As the name implies, the Riverside Park area is adjacent to one the most popular parks in Guelph– Riverside Park. This park hosts many events throughout the year, from the Multicultural Festival, to RibFest, to Sparkles in the Park and Canada Day celebrations with fireworks.
In the summer, the park is packed with families for BBQ’s, picnics and to take advantage of the historic carousel and train for the kids! Riverside even has the Speed River running through it!
The area is adjacent to the General Hospital and Exhibition Park areas in the north part of Guelph.
Homes in this area are mostly detached homes and mainly post war bungalows built from the early 1950s- mid 1960’s.
It’s not uncommon for a few of them to still be popping up with their original owners. This has been a challenge for the resale market here as many owners just don’t want to leave.
As this area turns over, buyers are quick to snatch up these versatile bungalows which are suitable for downsizers, first time buyers and even investors who turn the basement into an accessory apartment as part of a house hack.
Be sure though, if you are going to buy as an investment with an accessory apartment, that you follow the City guidelines!
