As part of our commitment to our community as Guelph Realtors, we’ve compiled a series of directories as guides to people looking for local products and services, including Guelph funeral homes. This list is a part of our larger, support local initiative in a wide variety of categories.
The Guelph funeral homes listed below are in no particular order, but do contain a focus on locally owned businesses. However, we also will feature franchised businesses as they often have local owners and staff as well!
We do not receive compensation in any way for this list. If you believe there are other options that we should feature, please contact us!
Gilbert McIntyre and Sons Funeral Home, multiple locations
Initially started on Quebec St in downtown Guelph, Gilbert MacIntyre purchased the current downtown location in 1938. It’s still run by the MacIntrye family to this day with multiple family members running the operation. Their website say they are Wellington County’s Oldest Family-Owned Funeral Home
Over time, they have expanded and now have three locations:
Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St N (downtown Guelph)
Located in Guelph’s Exhibition Park neighbourhood, this location is the original.
Hart Chapel (opened in 2004 to better serve South Guelph), 1099 Gordon Street
As Guelph started to expand further South, the business for their Dublin Chapel became too much. Gilbert MacIntyre and sons built their new location.
Rockwood Chapel (opened 1998), 117 Guelph St Rockwood
Serves the Rockwood and East Guelph communities, this location was the first funeral home in Rockwood.
Gilbert MacIntyre Funeral Homes offers a wide variety of services. These include daily Guelph obits, as well as funeral services, cremation services and memorial services. They also offer funeral planning and many grief services connections. For more information, you can find them at https://www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com/
Map below is for the main Dublin St location:
Wall- Custance Funeral Home, 206 Norfolk St Guelph

Brombal Funeral Home (formerly Gilchrist Chapel), 1 Delhi St at Eramosa, Guelph
Summer 2023 name change
Established in 1932, Gilchrist Chapel -McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home is Guelph’s longest serving funeral provider. They are a local business, proud of their history and the exceptional legacy of caring service passed down to us by those who built their company and served the families of Guelph for the past 80 years.
As an ambulance service was commonly part of the business model for funeral homes in the early days, the current location near the Guelph General Hospital was particularly convenient.
More information is available on their website at https://brombal.ca/
